Born in Ayr, Gudgeon was a Scottish painter in watercolour of birds and animals.  He studied at the Glasgow School of Art from 1928 - 33, winning the Torrance Memorial Award of the G. I. in 1933.  Exhibited  R.S.A., R.S.W. and G.I.
